Dear Pullman Families,
As we launch into another exciting school year, I continue to be honored to serve as your child's Principal and value the opportunity to build upon the momentum we have created together. Reflecting on our progress, I am filled with immense pride in our talented students and our experienced, caring staff. Day after day, our educators bring passion, expertise, and heart into their classrooms, ensuring that every child is known, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
This year, we are channeling that shared dedication toward an even higher standard of achievement. We are renewing our commitment to raise student Math and Reading scores across all grade levels by delivering rigorous, high-quality instruction tailored to each child's needs. Alongside academic growth, we are focused on increasing student attendance, because if students are not in school they will miss out on critical skills and development. To ensure our students experience a rich, well-rounded education, we are always looking for additional opportunities beyond the classroom through field trips and after-school enrichment programs that spark curiosity and joy. You can also expect your students to receive regular instruction in Social and Emotional Learning so they are prepared to navigate challenges with empathy, problem solving skills and self-reflection.
Creating a safe, supportive, and restorative learning environment remains our top priority. We want Pullman to be the place where students feel physically and emotionally safe, taking academic risks and supporting their peers. To keep our community closely connected, we commit to actively sharing our good news, milestones, and upcoming events through our website, social media platforms, and family newsletters. True partnership requires continuous dialogue, which is why I pledge to remain fully accessible and available before, during, and after school to address your concerns, answer questions, or simply listen to your ideas.
I have a strong belief that student success is rooted in strong family engagement and elevating student and parent voices. I strongly urge you to partner with us and take an active role in shaping our school’s future. You can make a direct impact by participating in our Local School Council (LSC), Parent Advisory Council (PAC), Bilingual Advisory Council (BAC), Walking School Bus, Urban Father’s Initiative, Parent Mentor program, or by volunteering in our classrooms.
Together, with our incredible staff and valued families, we will make this school year extraordinary. Thank you for trusting us with your children and for your continued commitment to our school community. I promise to lead a school that you can be proud to send your student to everyday.
With gratitude and commitment,
Principal Douglas Stalnos
